Paid survey companies are the actual marketing research firms that small and large businesses pay to gather data for them. These companies are in business for only two reasons, first, to build online surveys to administer to their members and two, to collect the data & analyze the results. They then take the data and their findings and turn them over to the companies looking to create or revise a product. These are companies like Opinion Outpost, Lightspeed Research, MySurvey.com, and Global Test Market.

Paid Survey Directories

Paid survey directories are websites like ours which produce a list of paid survey companies to sign up with. The legitimate paid survey directories are those that never charge money for their lists such as sites like Survey Scout. Yes, site like Survey Scout will produce a list very similar to ours, but they charge for something that is freely accessible to the general public, which in our opinion, is dishonest and downright fraudulent.

If you are like most people, you are probably asking yourself why you aren’t making as much money as you would like to be making with paid surveys. In fact, you are probably wanting to put your fist through your computer screen right now.

If you really want to make money online, you absolutely need to take this seriously. If you take it seriously, the paid survey companies will take it seriously and they will reward you with a plethora of opportunites.

Create an Objective

Before you can begin your survey research, you need to start with a clear objective on why you are conducting your research and what decisions you will make once you are able to collect your data. Once you have an objective in place, it will be much easier to help you craft the right questions and collect the right data to help you make those tough decisions about where to take your business.

Write Your Questions

After you have a clear objective, you need to start mapping out your questions. First and foremost, you need to make sure that each question you ask has a purpose and have a definable objective. Once you have all your questions, you should ask yourself, “will I be able to take action based on the information I receive?” If the answer is no, you should throw out the question and replace it with a better one.

While you are putting together your questions you should also consider secondary data, if you have it. This is data that has already been collected for a different objective. Take a look at your existing data sources that you currently have like customer profiles, purchase patterns, sales data, and customer service calls. You may find that you already have the answers you need in these reports, or you may find that you have not thought of some questions you need to be asking. Secondary data is money if you have it.

Once you have your questions finalized, you need to load them into a survey software. Both are great and both have their advantages, you will just need to figure out what you need and go for it!

Begin With Current Customers

Now that you have your survey ready to go, you should plan on launching it to your existing customers base. Most often than note, these people are your advocates and will tell it like it is. If they would like to see something changed in your current product or service offering, they will let you know. They will also let you know about what they think about new product or service ideas. Once you have completed this, you can begin to reach out to others in your target demographic by tapping into social media hubs like Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, and others.

• Use a link shortening service like bit.ly to shorten your survey URL and track the number of clicks you receive.
• Ask your friends and family to send it out to their following.
• Send a final reminder message like, “our survey ends today, results to follow”.

Analyze Results

After you have collected enough data, you’re probably wondering what should you do with your findings? You should first look for patterns, trends, and potential holes in what is and isn’t being offered by you and also in your market. You should write down all of these findings.

Next you need to take feedback and listen to your customer’s or potential customer’s perspective. You should identify products that are currently not available in the marketplace, but are desired. You should add, subtract, and tweak your products or services until it meets the needs of your customer to the best of your ability. The final result? Check the box for Completed Listings to narrow your search results. Prices in green are items that successfully sold. Those in red did not. Use this intelligence to compare successful and unsuccessful listings so that you can create your own best listing.

5) Follow The Rules

The last thing you need is to invest your time in creating a great looking eBay listing only to have it shut down because you accidentally violated an eBay policy. Take time to familiarize yourself with some basic rules. For example, do not borrow text or images (photos) from other listings on eBay, other websites or catalogs. Your pictures should be original. eBay has a whole page dedicated to creating legally compliant listings.

Treat Just Like Your Job

Just like anything else in life, practice makes perfect. The more eBay listings you create the better you will get at it. Although these secret strategies to earn extra income selling on eBay can serve as a good starting point, nothing beats experience.

MySurvey is a survey website that is free to join. Upon joining you will fill out a profile which will allow the system to help generate surveys that you will qualify for. Also, from time to time you will find that you have lifestyle surveys available as well that will help the system determine which surveys will be a good match for you.

How Many Surveys Can I Expect To Take?

The amount of paid surveys you take depends on how active you are on the website, your profile, and your responses to the lifestyle surveys. Personally, I usually log in once a week to take surveys and I have about 10 or say waiting for me to complete. However, not all of the surveys that show up for me to take are a good match for me so I instead of receiving points I am entered into the sweepstakes.

What Are Points and Sweepstakes?

Points are how MySurvey rewards you for taking surveys. Once you have reached a certain amount of points you can go under My Rewards and redeem them for money via PayPal, gift certificates, or other things that you see that you want or need. The Sweepstakes that MySurvey allows you to be entered into for taking certain surveys in for a chance to win $10,000.

How Long Does It Take To Receive Rewards?

After you choose your reward you will then receive it in a few weeks. From my experience when cashing out via PayPal I have the money in about 7 business days and when getting something such as a DVD I usually receive it in the mail in about 3 weeks – sometimes sooner.

Overall rating

Overall I rate MySurvey at a 10/10. This rating comes into play because out of all of the other surveys I have participated in they are the only one that I have actually received something from. Usually, the others I have tried have ridiculous payouts that you have to reach, surveys are never available, or it takes weeks for the surveys to clear.

Apply with Companies

The first thing you need to do when starting out as a mystery shopper is to apply to as many different agencies as you can find in your area. Simply put the more shopping agencies you are a member of the more likely you are to find consistent work.

Try keep passwords and usernames the same or very similar, it’s very easy to start losing track once you have joined a large number of agencies.

Keep a log of these passwords and the companies contact details and website address.

As soon as your are accepted to a new agency check for jobs in your area, if there is a large amount then you know that agency is one to keep a close eye on.

Keep a constant check for new companies coming onto the scene, that could be as simply as checking Google daily and looking at the paid advertisements on the right hand side. New companies are likely to come in and advertise heavily that they are around.

Create a favorites list and use it

Most internet browsers have a ‘favourites’ or ‘bookmarks’ function so that you can save your favourite websites.
